Indonesian Travel Restriction In Regards of Covid-19

I think all of us would never have thought that a time like this would come. A time were traveling is banned and restricted.
The coronavirus has hit us hard, and at this moment, there seem to be no signs of cooling down for most of the countries. Hopefully, in the upcoming months, we can look back and say with a relieved heart that all got back into its right place with current efforts. The earth has rested for a while but is back on track.
So, that's why, though some countries still allow movement in and out of the country, and flight tickets dropped, it is best not to go on travel for now. Especially not if you intend to go on it just for the sake of fun or vacation. It is not the time for this because the possibilities of you being a carrier and contributing to the spread of the coronavirus are even more dangerous.
As per April 1st, 2020, Indonesia is one of the countries that finally has issued a travel restriction for foreign visitors with a few exceptions that you can find on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Indonesia. I think it was about time since our numbers are still rapidly increasing. The borders will be open again in better times. Hopefully soon!

Alfa Resort Puncak Cisarua Bogor | Indonesia

We went to Alfa Resort Puncak in October 2007. It is a resort located near Taman Safari Puncak at Ciburial, Kp. Baru Jeruk, Desa Tugu Utara. Cisarua, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. Telephone: (0251) 8252285, 8254660. For reservation in Jakarta, you can call: (021) 55754920. You can choose between several villas and bungalows that are named after the phonetic alphabet. If you understand Bahasa Indonesia, you might want to check out the price list on their Facebook profile.

We have stayed one night at a villa called Mama. They provided us with a gas cooker and water gallon at the villa. We had a living room with TV cable, four bedrooms and two bathrooms with hot shower. The photo at the left bottom in the collage above shows a little garden right in front of the villa. You can also see in clockwise order: a view on the swimming pool, one of the benches to sit in this area and a view on the surroundings of the Alfa Resort Puncak, Cisarua, Bogor. Besides the swimming pool, they also have other facilities like a playground for children, a little football court, and horses to ride on. Unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to try out their jogging track to a waterfall.

The resort staff was very helpful. We have been allowed to wait at one of the empty villas, before we could check in at our booked villa. The only drawback we had experienced was the small path leading to the Vila Alfa Resort Puncak, Cisarua, Bogor. The resort area itself was quite large. If you are looking for a place to relax with your family, this might be your place.

Wisata Situ Patenggang Bandung

We are always happy when we go on vacation. Well, I guess who wouldn't be. The following photo shows some random boats at the lake Situ Patenggang, Bandung. Can you see the words "harapan" written on one of the boats? It means "hope" in Indonesia.

Royal Safari Garden Hotel, Puncak: Pendopo

This photo here comes from the series of our family vacation to the Royal Safari Garden Hotel & Restaurant. In case you don't know, it belongs to Taman Safari Indonesia, Indonesia's center for reproduction of endangered wildlife. Both places are actually located at two different areas, but stand nearby. I love this place so much that I can't stop writing about it.

The building in the photo is called a pendopo, which according to the Wikipedia is:

A fundamental element of Javanese architecture; a large pavilion -like structure built on columns. Either square or rectangular in plan, it is open on all sides and provides shelter from the sun and rain, but allows breeze and indirect light. The word pendopo Sanskrit word mandapa ('hall'). The Dutch writer Multatuli in his colonial reformist novel Max Havelaar described the pendopo as "next to a broad-rimmed hat, an umbrella or a hollow tree, a pendopo is undoubtedly the simplest representation there is of the concept of 'roof'".

You can rent this architectural building for family or company gatherings at this site. I think the pendopo in my photo shot is the largest one in the area. There are also several smaller pendopos in various sizes for free.

Royal Safari Garden Hotel, Puncak: Birds Presentation

There is a lot of stuff that you can do at the Royal Safari Garden Hotel & Restaurant. Besides some activities at the Goddess of Rice Pond, you can also go and see this birds presentation for free on each Saturday, Sunday or Holidays at 11am or 15pm.

They have various kinds of birds to present, like this smart parrot here. Our kids had a great time at the Royal Safari Garden Hotel, Puncak: Birds Presentation.

Royal Safari Garden Hotel Puncak: Goddess of Rice Pond

The Royal Safari Garden Hotel, Puncak, is a place where you could go with the entire family. There are so many activity choices that I think no one will be left out.

Here at the Goddess of Rice Pond, you can rent water bikes and feed some big goldfish. If you are not in the mood to go on a water bike, you could just sit at the benches or under an umbrella or stand at the bridges while watching fish or feeding them.

Besides this pond, the Royal Safari Garden Hotel has also a pond with a little bird island and another one for fishing activities.

Dewi Sri is the goddess of rice on the island of Bali and Java. She has the power of the underworld and the moon. She controls the foodstuffs of the Earth and death. She is the mother of life because she symbolizes rice (the primary food of Indonesia). Highly revered especially by the Javanese, Balinese, and Sundanese people of Indonesia, there are a lot of versions of her legend in Indonesia, most of them involve Dewi Sri (also known as Dewi Asri, Nyi Pohaci, etc) and her brother Sedana (also known as Sadhana, Sadono, etc), set either in the kingdom of Medang Kamulan, or in the heaven (involving gods such as Batara Guru), or both. In all the versions in which Sedana appears along with Dewi Sri, they end up separated from each other, through either death, wandering, or a refusal to be married. Some versions made correlation between Sri and large snake of the rice field (ular sawah) and Sadhana with swallow (sriti). The traditional Javanese people in particular have a special place in their house dedicated for Dewi Sri, decorated with intricate carvings of snake, so that she will give prosperity for them. In the agricultural Javanese, a snake who entered a house won't be chased away as it is a sign for a success in harvest, and they will give it offerings instead. The Balinese provide special shrines in the rice fields for her. The Sundanese have a special festival dedicated to her.

Cihampelas Walk Bandung is a very popular site, full with shops and restaurants. If you like shopping or window shopping and taking photos, this might be the perfect place for you.

Strolling around the area, you can come upon interesting objects, like this Japanese style decoration. Did you notice that you can see right into a mall through those windows?


Since our vacation was a last minute decision on a national holiday, almost all hotels were booked and we had to search for another alternative on the Web. I call it lucky that we finally stumbled upon this Cihampelas Hotel 2 site and were settled for the family room. Even though it was a very small hotel, after our arrival everything turned out like promoted. Nice staff, hotspot, TV cable, AC, hot & cold water and a highly accessible location to Cihampelas Walk Bandung. You can see oxtail soup and fried noodles ordered through their room delivery service in the photo above. Yummy!

Gelanggang Samudra Ancol

We went to Gelanggang Samudra Ancol, Jakarta in January 2007. It is an ocean park with many unique architectures, like at the dolphin auditorium.

This place reminds me of a tale in 1001 nights. I love to see the details and colors. Not to mention the lovely stars...

Kawah Putih Ciwidey, Wisata Bandung

The White Crater is called Kawah Putih in Indonesia. It is located in Ciwidey, Bandung, West Java and has become a favorite place for pre-wedding photos. My husband took this scenery at our family vacation in August 2008.

Did you know that Kawah Putih Ciwidey is actually a part of the twin volcano Mount Patuha (which means "Mount of the Elders" in Sundanese)? It is the southeast volcanic part with bluish green water and a sulfur mine in its surroundings, whereas the other crater is dry.

We have tasted the famous drink called Bandrek Abah at Kawah Putih Ciwidey, Indonesia. It is a perfect drink to keep your body warm and basically consists of ginger with brown sugar. The strawberries sold in this area are my favorites too, because they really taste sweet. Not like most strawberries here in Indonesia, which to my opinion tend to be a little sour.

Anyway, don't forget to visit this area if you ever get to Kawah Putih Ciwidey as "Wisata Bandung". The word wisata means recreation in Indonesia. The beauty of this area is something not to be missed. Don't forget to prepare some warm jackets, because the nights can be cold out there.

Anyer Villa: Beach View, Indonesia

Anyer Beach Indonesia is probably one of the most popular tourism sites here in our country. It is located in the province of Banten, West Java. We went on a three day family vacation at a friend's cottage with a private beach. There are many cottages, villas or hotels that you can find in this area.

It's not difficult to get involved in various activities you might like doing. We had a great time embracing the beauty of mother nature through our Anyer Villa beach view, playing around at the beach, going on a boat trip, fishing, and enjoying a tasty barbecue at night. I'm sure that you can find even more interesting activities when you do a throughout search on Anyer Beach. It is a lovely place to visit.
